His paternal grandparents are Jim Peden and Sallie Copeland; his maternal grandfather was Johnnie J. Petty and his maternal grandmother is Rebecca Joanna Daniel. He had a brother and two sisters, named Sylvester, Claudine and Earline. He is the second oldest of the four children.-
