D. Edward was born on September 24th, 1926. D. Edward's father was Elijah Forrest McCubbin and his mother was Nancy Alice DeSpain. His maternal grandfather was Elzy Franklin DeSpain and his maternal grandmother is Mary Susan Marcum. He had five brothers and a sister, named Carl E. ,Rev., Harlan, George Willard, Russell Dale, Emery Hudson and Helen. He is the third youngest of the seven children.-
