Joseph Edwin was born on January 29th, 1917. Joseph Edwin's father was Willliam Alexander Johnson and his mother is Esther Gertrude Currie. His maternal grandparents were Angus Dodridge Currie and Ida Gertrude China. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Peter, Currie Dee, Archie China, Harry Wilbur, Francis Hunter, Carl Thomas, Albert Sidney, Willie Gertrued and Margaret Eloise. He is the third youngest of the ten children.-
