Iva Chester was born on January 18th, 1898 in Halletsville,Lavaca Co.,Texas. Iva Chester's father was Morehouse Latting Hale and his mother was Eliza Johnston. His maternal grandparents were William E. Johnston and Elizabeth Miles Allen. He had three brothers and three sisters, named William, Arthur Leonard, Leslie Johnston, Nellie Gertrude, Geraldine Elizabeth and Marguerite Estell. He is the third oldest of the seven children.-
