Mary Jane's father was John Calvin Currie and her mother was Margaret Keahey. Her maternal grandparents were John Keahey and Elizabeth Patterson. She had six brothers and four sisters, named William Jackson, Angus Dodridge, John Calvin, James Burder, Newton Bethune, Archibald Keahey, Elizabeth Caroline, Isabella Amanda, Margaret Jane and Flora Ann.-
