Lillian Gertrude was born on November 24th, 1895. Lillian Gertrude's father was J. W. Coleman and her mother was Margaret Helen Faulconer. Her maternal grandparents were William Henry Harrison Faulconer and Mary Agnes Morrison. She had five brothers and three sisters, named James Henry, John William, Hubert Earl, Leonard Dudley, Robert Clifton, Mary Lee, Margaret Rebecca and Mattie Geneva. She is the fifth oldest of the nine children.-
