Johan Adam was born about 1754 in Pennsylvania. Johan Adam's father was Phillip Henrich Yaple and his mother was Maria Barbara Hold. His paternal grandparents are Wolfgang Christian Jeppel and Anna Apollonia Wilhelm; his maternal grandfather was Casper Hold. He has a brother and a sister, named Johann Henry and Anna Maria. He is the oldest of the three children. He has five half-brothers and a half-sister, named Jacob, Johan Nicholas, Johannes, Johann Christian, Johann Philip and Maria.-
