His paternal grandparents were Robert Ambrose Sutton and Sarah Rose Mary Warner; his maternal grandparents were Nathaniel Tilden and Lydia Bourne Huckstep. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Daniel, John, Nathaniel, Joseph, Lydia, Sarah, Sarah and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 76 on April 28th, 1718 in Rairtan Township,Piscataway, Middlesex County, New Jersey.
