His paternal grandparents were Edgar Peter Shaffer and Emma Clarissa Hicks; his maternal grandparents were George William Harrison Terry and Dovey Ostie Lanham. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Clifton, Kellen, Darrell Lane Sr., Living, Living, Living, Lucille A., Living, Living and Living. He died at the age of 50 on February 9th, 1985 in Nicholls, Coffee County, Georgia. He was buried in Hall Cemetery, Coffee County, Georgia.-
