Eliza Kems was born on December 31st, 1831 in Greenbrier County, Virginia. Eliza Kems' father was George E. Shaver and her mother was Isabelle Rodgers. Her paternal grandparents were Christopher Shaffer and UNKNOWN Elizabeth; her maternal grandparents were Michael Rodgers and Catharine Troxel. She had five brothers and eight sisters, named Michael, Peter, Samuel McClung, Infant Son, George Washington, Rebecca, Sarah, Catharine, Elizabeth, Mary Crawford, Rachael, Margaret and Isabella Francis. She was the fifth youngest of the fourteen children. She died at the age of 94 on December 23rd, 1926 in Greenbrier County, Virginia.-
