Kester Shafer 
Kester was born in October 1894 in Roane County, West Virginia. Kester's father was Andrew Johnson Shaffer and his mother was Ida Mae Burgess. His paternal grandparents were LaFayette M. Shaver and Eliza Virginia Martin. He had four brothers and three sisters, named Alva Arvell, Hobert S., Cecil Hubert B., Harry Lovell, Stella Pearl, Sadie Myrtle and Ruth. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 41 in 1935 in Kanawha County, Virginia.-
