Gertrude of was born before 1027 in Schweinfurt, Unterfranken, Bavaria, Germany.  Gertrude of's father was Bernhard II of Saxony and her mother was Bertrade Haraldsdottir of Norway.  Her paternal grandparents were Bernard (Benno) I Billung of Saxony and Hildegarde von Stade; her maternal grandfather was Harald II Graycloak Eiriksson of Norway and her maternal grandmother is UNKNOWN Gunhilda. She had two brothers and a sister, named Ordulf of, Hermann of and Ida Billung of.  She was the second oldest of the four children.  She died on August 4th, 1113.


Gertrude of's first family with Robert I the Frisian of Flanders

‌Gertrude of and Robert I the Frisian of were married in a religious ceremony in 1063.  They had a son and two daughters, named Robert II of, Adela of and Gertrude of.
