Gertrude of's father was Robert I the Frisian of Flanders and her mother was Gertrude of Saxony.  Her paternal grandparents were Baldwin V the Pious de Lille of Flanders and Adela (Alix) Capet of France; her maternal grandparents were Bernhard II of Saxony and Bertrade Haraldsdottir of Norway. She had a brother and a sister, named Robert II of and Adela of. She had five half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Dirk V (Dietrich), Albrecht, Floris, Machteld, Pieter, Adele Christina and Bertha von Westfriesland of.  She died in 1117.
