Josiah was born in Hebron, Tolland, Connecticut. Josiah's father was Josiah Owen and his mother was Mary Mercy Hosford. His paternal grandparents were Josiah Owen and Mary Osborn. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Ashel, Noah, Isaac, Amos, Silas, Mary, Martha and Anne. He died after 1741.-
