Jonathan was born on October 27th, 1718 in Lebanon, New London County, Connecticut. Jonathan's father was Joseph Jr. Owen and his mother was Ruth Woodworth. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Owen and Esther Osborn; his maternal grandparents were Benjamin Woodworth and Hannah Damon. He had five sisters named Ruth, Mercy, Irene, Lydia and Rebecca. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named David, Issac, Mary, Esther, Ann and Rachel. He died before September 11th, 1759 in Lebanon, New London County, Connecticut.-
