Dennis was born in 1802. Dennis' father was Donald McDonald and his mother was Sarah Critton. His paternal grandparents were Archibald McDonald and UNKNOWN Annie; his maternal grandparents were John Jr Critton and UNKNOWN Barbara. He had a brother named John. He had two half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Jeremiah Jacob, Hamilton Jefferson, Anna Miranda, Caroline Louisa, Selina Jane and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 69 in 1871 in Berkeley County, Virginia.-
