According to Wilmer L. Kerns: "...In 1777, John and Mary Critton Sr.
conveyed 89 acres to John Jr. It was located along the Little Cacapon
River and included part of Little Cacapon Mountain. John owned many
horses and 6-8 slaves. It is believed that he was engaged in an
industry, possibly milling. No complete record exists of the family unit
of John and Barbara Critton Jr..."
