John was born about 1720 in Orange County, Virginia.  John's father was Jean L'Argent and his mother was UNKNOWN Rachel. He had three brothers and a sister, named James, Thomas, William and Ann.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died in 1806 in Hampshire County, Virginia (now West Virginia).  He was buried in Hampshire County, Virginia (now West Virginia) or Kentucky.


John's first family with UNKNOWN Elizabeth

‌John and UNKNOWN were married in a religious ceremony in 1744 in Norborne Parish, Frederick County, Virginia.  They had three sons and three daughters, named John, James, William, Mary, Elizabeth and Ann.


John's second family with Christina Catherine Ross

‌John and Christina Catherine were married in a religious ceremony about 1769.  They had five sons and a daughter, named Lewis, Randall, Aaron, Abraham, Moses and Phebe.


John's third family with UNKNOWN Sarah

‌John and UNKNOWN were married in a religious ceremony in Hampshire County, Virginia (now West Virginia).  They had a son and two daughters, named Thomas, Sarah and Jane.


John's fourth family with Fanny Hiett

They had a son named Nelson.
