Jane was born in October 1537 in Bradgate, Leicestershire, England. Jane's father was Henry Grey and her mother was Frances Brandon. Her paternal grandparents were Thomas II Grey and Margaret Wotton; her maternal grandparents were Charles Brandon and Mary Tudor. She had two sisters named Catherine and Mary. She was the oldest of the three children. She had a half-sister named Elizabeth. She died in Tower of London, Tower Green, London, England. entered the Tower of London as Queen of England on 10 July 1553. This
impressive fortress, that was to be her palace, became her prison. Seven
months later she would be beheaded within its walls, her body hastily
placed beneath the floor of the Chapel Royal, without ceremony. She was
in her seventeenth year. How did this pious, intelligent, and worthy
young woman come to wear the crown she did not desire and had never

sickly boy of fifteen. He had been plagued by illness throughout his
life and was now siffering from advanced tuberculosis. It became clear
to those who were close to the King that he would not reach adulthood.
Henry VIII's Will named his daughter Mary as next in line to the throne.
If Edward did not marry and produce an heir, a Catholic would rule
England. As Edward's chief Minister, Northumberland knew that he would
be punished by Mary for his harsh anti-Catholic policies. Jane Grey was
fourth in line to the throne, and represented, for Northumberland, his
only real chance to retain the power and status he had attained. He
focused on fostering a close association with Henry and Frances Grey. By
May he had convinced them to formalise their alliance through marriage."
