Ruth was born before 1815 in Paw Paw, Morgan County, Virginia. Ruth's father was John D. Easter and her mother was Margaret Thomas. Her paternal grandparents were Georg Oster and Anna Barbara Brunner; her maternal grandparents were Gabriel Thomas and Anna Margaretha. She had four brothers and five sisters, named John Jr., Peter, Jacob, Henry, Susannah, Thomas, Barbara, Margaret and Abigail. She was the youngest of the ten children. She died after 1827.-
