Jacob was born on June 20th, 1797 in Paw Paw, Morgan County, Virginia. Jacob's father was John D. Easter and his mother was Margaret Thomas. His paternal grandparents were Georg Oster and Anna Barbara Brunner; his maternal grandparents were Gabriel Thomas and Anna Margaretha. He had three brothers and six sisters, named John Jr., Peter, Henry, Susannah, Thomas, Barbara, Margaret, Abigail and Ruth. He is the fourth youngest of the ten children.-
