William Martin was born on February 21st, 1912 in Richland County, North Dakota. William Martin's father was Andrew Jacob Boyer and his mother was Minnie Louise Northway. His paternal grandparents were William Henry Boyer and Florence Virginia Dinges; his maternal grandparents were Martin Luther Northway and Marietta Mosher. He had six brothers and nine sisters, named Kenneth Ward, Quentin Lorin, Darrel Jay, Delton Andrew, Living, Living, Helen Lucille, Dorothy Luella, Margaret, Orlie Viola, Marjorie Elaine, Florence Eleanor, Clarice Adelyn, Delores Marietta and Living.
