Vera Fern was born on December 16th, 1913 in Fairpoint, South Dakota. Vera Fern's father was Irvin Martin Boyer and her mother was Annie Evelyn Jeffers. Her paternal grandparents were William Henry Boyer and Florence Virginia Dinges. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Lester Jeffers, Chester Martin, Robert Isaac, William Howard, Ethel Pearl, Florence Katherine, Gladys Faye, Mattie Evelyn, Hazel Louise, Blanche May and Dorothy Lynette. She is the fifth oldest of the twelve children.-
