Joseph Alexandrew was born on September 26th, 1854. Joseph Alexandrew's father was Jacob Eusebius Summit and his mother was Sarah Ann Boyd. His paternal grandparents are Daniel Summit and Sarah Moser; his maternal grandparents were Jeremiah Boyte and Susannah Keicher. He has four brothers and five sisters, named Darius Eusebius, Martin Luther, James Hancher, John Fox, Susannah, Martha, Lucinda Emmaline, Rachel F and Miranda Tennessee. He is the fifth youngest of the ten children. He has a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Daniel T, Elizabeth Jane, Sarah Ann, Hannah Adeline and Lydia Catherine.-
