Robert was born in 1781 in Columbia Co., PA. Robert's father was James Lowry and his mother was Ruth Peterson. His paternal grandparents were Alexander Lowry and Mary Waters. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Lazarus, William, Francis, James, Alexander, Ruth, Rebecca and Margaret. He died at the age of 51 in 1832 in Jefferson Co., Ohio.-
