Marquis Lafayette was born on July 16th, 1838 in McMinn Co., Tennessee. Marquis Lafayette's father was David Uriah Kyker and his mother was Hester Ann H. Slyger. His paternal grandfather was Joseph Keicher\Kyker and his paternal grandmother is Jane Booth. He had eleven brothers and two sisters, named Andrew Jackson, Martin Luther, William Fletcher, James Madison, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Charles Wesley, Benjamin Erwin, Joseph Emerson, Peter Marion, John Marshall, Martha Ann and Mary Jane. He was the fifth oldest of the fourteen children. He had a half-brother named Ulysses Grant. He died at the age of 85 on March 23rd, 1924.-
