Asa was born in Jerusalem, Israel. Asa's father was Abijam King of Israel and his mother is Maachah Queen of Israel. His paternal grandfather was Rehoboam King of Israel and his paternal grandmother is Maachah Queen of Israel. He was an only child. He died in Jerusalem.General Notes
Asa, king of Judah (910?-870? bc). The son of Abijah, Asa removed the idols that had been introduced after the Egyptian conquest of Judah following the reign of King Solomon of Israel. Asa decisively defeated an Egyptian invasion led by a commander referred to in the Bible as “Zerah the Ethiopian.” Asa also repulsed an invasion from Israel with the help of Ben-hadad I, King of Syria. In exchange for a large portion of the Judean treasury’s contents, the Syrian king attacked northern Israel and thereby forced the Israelites to abandon their conquests in Judah. Asa died after reigning 41 years and was succeeded by his son Jehoshaphat.
