Samuel was born on August 7th, 1689 in Brooksfield, MA. Samuel's father was Henry Gilbert and his mother was Elizabeth Belden or Belding. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Gilbert and Catherine Chapin; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Belden and Mary Meekins?. He had five brothers and two sisters, named John, Ebenezer, Thomas, Henry, Nathaniel, Mercy and Elizabeth. He died at the age of 88 on April 16th, 1778 in Brooksfield, MA.-
