Her paternal grandparents are Josiah Calloway and Letisha Blankenship; her maternal grandfather was Robert Lowry and her maternal grandmother is Ruth Ann Pickim. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Lewis Frank, William Ira, Henry Melvin, Serilda, Sarah Isabell, Rhoda Jane and Lusetta. She is the second youngest of the eight children.-
