Sam was born in 1868 in NC. Sam's father was Martin Andrews and his mother is Catherine Higgins. His paternal grandfather was James Andrews and his paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Crouse; his maternal grandparents are John Higgins and Susan Edwards. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Emmett C., John Robert, James Mark, Reeves Preston, Laura Alice, Margie Caroline, Maud E. and Della. He is the oldest of the nine children.-
