Her paternal grandfather was James Andrews and her paternal grandmother is Elizabeth Crouse; her maternal grandparents are John Higgins and Susan Edwards. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Sam, Emmett C., John Robert, James Mark, Reeves Preston, Laura Alice, Maud E. and Della. She was the fourth youngest of the nine children. She died at the age of 94 in 1973 in Wilkes Co., NC.-
