Evelina Couvillon 
Evelina was born on July 26th, 1837 in Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana.1 Evelina's father was Sosthene Alexander Couvillon and her mother was Emelia Mayeaux. Her paternal grandparents were PIERRE Couvillon and *BRIGETTE Mayeux; her maternal grandparents were ANTOINE Mayeux and ROSALIE Broyard Barre. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Severe, Edgard, Sosthene Alexandre, Ovide Omer, Clementine, Luce and Celinie. She was the second oldest of the eight children. She died at the age of 76 on May 19th, 1914 in Longbridge, Avoyelles Parish, Louisiana. She was buried in Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, Moreauville, Louisiana.1 1 -

Married at the home of her widowed mother by a Justice of the Peace. Later, January 29, 1856, a missionary priest from New Orleans, who was passing through the area married them.
Evelina and Jean were married in a religious ceremony on May 20th, 1869 in St. Hyacienth's Church, Moreauville, Louisiana.1

At this marriage Evelina, was the widow of Gervais Couvillon. Married by F ather Theodore Auguste Rebours. Witnesses: J. Verdier, Philocles H. Gaut hier, S. D. Saucier.
Evelina Couvillon & Laurent Despalangue settled in the Long Bridge, Louisi ana area near her sister Clementine. Evelina was a gifted singer and a pr oficient violin and accordion player.
The 1870 Census show this couple living between Pierre & Adolphina Gremill ion and Joseph & Eugenie Gauthier. There was one childr at home, 10 ye ar old Laurent. Also living with them were Leonard & Arcadius Couvillo n, Evelina's children by her first marriage.
