John Franklin was born on March 5th, 1830 in , Montgomery, IL. John Franklin's father was Moses Martin SANDERS and his mother was Amanda Armstrong FAUSETT. His paternal grandparents were David SANDERS and Mary ALLRED; his maternal grandparents were Richard FAUSETT and Mary McKEE. He had seven brothers and four sisters, named William Carl, Richard TWIGGS, David Walker, Joseph MORONI, Sidney RIGDON, HYRUM Smith, Moses Martin, Rebecca Ann, Martha Brown, Emma and Eliza Jane. He was the third oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 66 on March 18th, 1896 in Mesa, Maricopa, AZ. He was buried on March 20th, 1896 in Mesa Cemetery, Maricopa, Arizo.General Notes

At age 33 was sent by Brigham Young to get 700 Scandinavian imigrants from Florence, Nebraska in
1862 and 1863. He became well to do in early life.
He was 6 foot 2 inches, weighed 185 lbs, dark curly hair, heavy dark lashes and eyebrows, fine eyes, a good nose and a dimpled chin with good teeth.
He was very ambitious and industrious, working long and hard hours. He at first raised sheep, later cattle which he later shipped to Canada. The great blizzard of 1901 got all of them. They froze to death on their feet in the fields, so they did not move to Canada. He received about $200.00 for their hides.
