Sophia was born on March 3rd, 1636 in Gresten Parish, , Austria and her baptism took place on March 3rd, 1636 in Plankenbhl, Austria.  Sophia's father was Kilian PLANKENBUEHLER and her mother was Martha UNKNOWN. She had seven brothers and two sisters, named Hans, Thomas, Matthias, Blasius, Adam, Christopher, Paul, Magdalena and Peterlaina.  She is the second youngest of the ten children.
