Ann was born on October 5th, 1780 in , Baltimore, Md. Ann's father was William MATTHEWS and her mother was Ann GRIFFITH. Her paternal grandparents were Oliver MATTHEWS and Hannah JOHNS; her maternal grandparents were Isaac GRIFFITH and Ann BURSON. She had two brothers and eight sisters, named Oliver, William, Hannah, Mary, Elizabeth, Rebecca, Miriam, Sarah, Rachel and Ruth. She is the fourth oldest of the eleven children.General Notes
