Jonathan was born on January 25th, 1716 in Richland, Phil, Pa and his baptism took place in Friend. Jonathan's father was Abraham GRIFFITH and his mother was Hannah LESTER. His paternal grandparents were Howell GRIFFITH and UNKNOWN GRIFFITH; his maternal grandparents were Peter LESTER and Mary (Duncoff) DUNCALF OR DUNCOFF. He had five brothers and a sister, named John, Abraham Jr., Joseph, Isaac, Samuel and Mary. He was the fourth oldest of the seven children.
