David served with the 10th Virginia Regiment during the American Revolation, died of his wounds at a Hospital at Valley Forge.

David EPPERSON's name is on the 1776 Dissenter' Petition of Albemarle Co VA voicing his loyalty to the independent self-developing spirit of the colonist who wanted to be free from the Church of England. Later he volunteered his service in the 14th VA Regiment. His signature is affixed to a record which shows him to have been one of those paying for volunteers who were not financially able to enter service and leave their families without support. Family tradition stated that David was a Major in the Rev. War but the only record found to date is his first enlistment. David Epperson Jr. volunteered in 1777 for three years. He sold his home of one hundred acres of land near his father's property when he entered the war. David Jr. marched away with the 10th VA Regiment on Feb. 14th. After an illness at Valley Forge Hospital he died in October of the same year. His wife Judith was advanced 164 pounds by Richard Bruce and was reimbursed by the action of the House of Delegates of VA in the December 1780 meeting. In 1782, Judith placed a claim for arrears of pay due from the Publick to her deceased husband. Judith later remarried John Burch. In John Burch's will he makes provision for the care of his wife's child, the child of David Jr and Judith EPPERSON.
According to Albemarle Family Records book, David EPPERSON died while in service during the Rev War at Valley Forge Hospital. See Hanover Co VA for other records. No listings for Rev War service at ancestry.com records. In 1777, David Epperson JR enlisted in the Rev War for three years. He sold his home of 100 acres of land near his father's property when he entered the war. His father enlisted 2 months, returned home for awhile and then left in May.
