Robert David "The Elder" Crockett 
Robert David "The Elder" was born in 1727 in Maryland. Robert David "The Elder"'s father was William D. Crockett and his mother is Elizabeth Boulay. His paternal grandparents were Joseph Louis Crockett and Sarah (Stuart) Stewart. He had a brother named William. He died at the age of 50 in August 1777 in Crockett's Creek, Hawkins, TN.General Notes

BIOGRAPHY: David Crockett, Sr migrated with his family from Maryland through Virgina and North Carolina into what was the Watauga area of Tyron County in Western North Carolina and settled along a creek that came to be known as Crockett's Creek where records show he deeded land. This area is now in the area of Rogersville, Hawkins County, East Tennessee. A raiding party of Cherokee and Creek Indians killed David and the rest of his family, except Esther who was scalped but survived and James and Joseph who were taken captive, while John, William and Robert were away fighting with militia under Colonel Issac Shelby at the battle of Kings Mountain in South Carolina, 7 October 1780.
BIOGRAPHY: On July 5, 1776, a Petition was sent to the Honorable, the Provisional Council of North Carolina from the settlers in the Watauga area. This petition explained the situation that the settlers found themselves in at that time, and asked recognition of their efforts towards establishing a form of government for the area. Their type of government, and military establishments were explained and submitted to the Council for their candid and impartial judgement in annexing them to the state of North Carolina. David Crockett, Sr and William Crockett signed the petition.
