Philip Gittings was born about 1732 in MD.1 Philip Gittings' father was Phillip Sessell Cissell and his mother was Elizabeth Sprigg Gittings. His paternal grandparents were William Cecil and Mary Unknown. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, William B., Joshua, Mary, Elizabeth and Susannah.
