Charles was born on January 13th, 1781 in <Edenton, Chowan Co., Nc>. Charles' father was George BAINS and his mother is Mary CREECY. His paternal grandparents are George BAINS and Jane UNKNOWN; his maternal grandfather is Levi Jr CREECY. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named William, George, John, James, Isaac, Cornelius, Thomas, Catherine (Catcy), Mary and Sarah. He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children.
