John GIFFORD 
John was born about 1514 in Of, Brightley, Devonshire, England. John's father was Roger GIFFORD and his mother was Margaret COBLEY. His paternal grandparents were Thomas GIFFORD and Anna CORYTON; his maternal grandparents were John COBLEY and Jane FORTESCUE. He had six brothers and seven sisters, named Walter, Hugh, Thomas, Andrew, Fulk, Roger, Anne, Jane Or Joan, Mary, Alice, Elizabeth, Wilmot and Philippa. He was the oldest of the fourteen children.
