Roger was born about 1171 in Lincoln, Lincolnshire, England. Roger's father was John FitzRichard Clavering de Lacy and his mother was Alice De Mandeville. His paternal grandparents were Richard FitzEustace Clavering de Lacy and Albreda (Aubrey) de Lisoures; his maternal grandparents were Geoffrey De Mandeville and Rohese De Vere. He had two brothers and a sister, named Henry Leigh, Sir Robert and Joanna. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died in 1211.-
