Richard Nathaniel Venable 
Richard Nathaniel was born on January 16th, 1763 in "Slate Hill", Prince Edward County, Virginia. Richard Nathaniel's father was Nathaniel E. Venable and his mother was Elizabeth Michaux Woodson. His paternal grandparents were Abraham II Venable and Martha Hannah Davis; his maternal grandparents were Richard Woodson and Ann Madelin Michaux. He had five brothers and eight sisters, named Samuel Woodson, Abraham Bedford, Nathaniel E., William Lewis, Thomas, Bettie Ann, Martha, Ann, Ann, Agnes, Mary, Frances and Elizabeth Woodson. He was the fourth oldest of the fourteen children. He died at the age of 75 on January 17th, 1838 in "Slate Hill", Prince Edward County, Virginia.General Notes

1. Educated at Hampden-Sydney and Princeton, and having studied law at William and mary, he settled in Prince Edward. "He was a public spirited man, interested in agricultural betterments, canals, railroads, education and politics. He was a member of the Virginia Convention of 1829, and was now and then in the legislature. A member of the Board of Trustees of Hampden-Sydney College for more than forty years, Mr. Venable was careful to preserve papers, college programmes, etc. Hence, a collection of invaluable local documents, and hence on debt to this good friend of the old times." 2. Lieutenant in the Reviolutionary War, member of the State Sentate and the convention of 1829. 3.
