Sir John was born about 1360 in Huntingdonshire and Somerset, England. Sir John's father was Payne Tibotot and his mother was Agnes Wrothe. His paternal grandparents were John De Tibetot and Margaret De Badlesmere; his maternal grandparents were John Wrothe and Margaret de Bokeland. He had a sister named Anne. * Note: Lord Tiptoft and Powys. He was summoned to Parliament from January 7, 1425/26, to December 3, 1441, as "Johanni Tiptoft chivaler," whereby he is held to have become lord Tiptoft. He was in the service of Henry, earl of Derby, from 1396 to 1397, by whom, as King, he was made Knight of the Bath on October 11, 1399, on the eve of his coronation at Henry IV. He was member of Parliament for Huntingdonshire in 1404 and 1406, and for Somerset in 1414. He was speaker of the House of Commons from March 2 to December 22, 1406. He was a commissioner of arry in Huntingdonshire, with order to join the King at Shrewsbury against Owen Glendower on August 7, 1402. In 1413 he succeeded to Worcesters in Enfield, Middlesex, Nether Wallop Buckland in Nether Wallop, Hampshire, and other estates as heir to his first cousin, Elizabeth Wroth, wife of William Palton, Knt. He held many offices both foreign and domestic.
