James IV was born in Edinburgh, West Lothian, Scotland.  James IV's father was James III Stuart and his mother was Margaret Oldenburg.  His paternal grandparents were James II Stuart and Mary De Guelders; his maternal grandparents were I Christian and Dorethea Von Brandenburg. He had a brother named John.  He died on September 9th, 1513 in Battle of Flodden, Northumberland, England.

‌James IV and Margaret were married in a religious ceremony on August 8th, 1503 in Holyrood Abbey, Edinburgh, Scotland.  They had three sons and a daughter, named Arthur, James V, Alexander and Margaret.
