Jean II was born in Bretagne, France.  Jean II's father was Jean I "Le Roux" De Dreux and his mother was Blanche De Champagne.  His paternal grandparents were Pierre I Mauclerc de Dreux and Alix De Bretagne; his maternal grandparents were Theobald VI "the Great" and Marguerite De Bourbon. He had five brothers and a sister, named Pierre, Thiébaut, Thiébaut, Nicholas, Robert and Aliénor.  He died on November 18th, 1305 in Lyons, France.  He was buried in Carmelite Church, Ploernel, Brittany.

‌Jean II and Beatrice were married in a religious ceremony in Abbey of St. Denis, Paris, France.  They had three sons and three daughters, named II, John of, Count of Leon, Marie, Blanche and Eleanor.
