Garcia I Fernandez Count of Castile was born about 0940.1 Garcia I Fernandez Count of Castile's father was Fernan Count of Castile, Leon and Lara Gonzalez and his mother was Sancha Princess of Navarre Sanchez. His paternal grandparents were Gonzalo Fernandez Count of Burgos and Castile de Lara and Munia (Nua) de Castile; his maternal grandparents were Sancho I 'Optimo Imperator' King of Navarre Garces and Toda (Tota) Aznarez de Larron. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Pedro Count of Castile and Urraca. He died in 0995 in near Cordoba. He was buried in St. Peter of Cerdana.1 1 General Notes
