His paternal grandparents were *Henry I, King of France Capet and *Mathilde De Friesland; his maternal grandparents were *Herbert IV(V) , Count ofVermandois de Vermandois and *Adele , of Valois de Crepi. He had three brothers and eight sisters, named Raoul I , Count of Vermandois, Simon, William, Agnes, Constance, Maude Matilda, Beatrix, *Elizabeth\Isabel, Elizabeth, Mahaut and daughter. He was the fifth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 55 in 1130.-
