Elijah's father was poss.Jehu Staton and his mother was Mehala. His paternal grandmother was Phoebe Unknown. He had three brothers and eight sisters, named Ezekiel, George, Joseph, Elizabeth, Phebe, Catherine, Sarah (Sally), Nancy, Mary (Polly), Sally and Peggy.
