Gysbert was born on March 28th, 1805 in Nieuwkoop,Zuid Holland,Netherland.  Gysbert's father was Gijsbert SCHELLINGERHOUT and his mother was Marrigje PIJPER.  His paternal grandparents were Pieter SCHELLINGERHOUT and Pieternel HOGERVECHT; his maternal grandparents were Thomas PIJPER and Marrigje VERLOOW. He had five brothers and three sisters, named Pieter, Jacob, Pieter, Pieter, Jacob, Pietje, Marrigje and Willemijntje.  He was the second oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 78 on June 15th, 1883 in Oudshoorn,Zuid Holland,Netherland.
